ABOUT US

OUR MISSION

To enhance the lives of individuals with developmental disabilities in South Puget Sound by providing opportunities for education, employment, housing, social support, and increased community awareness.

GAPP currently owns three homes in Pierce county where individuals with developmental disabilities reside within their communities. We provide housing for 18 people and operate the physical structures for all three homes. In addition, we provide 24/7 care for six of these individuals in the GAPP Adult Family Home located in Gig Harbor, Washington.

Group Action for Peninsula People (GAPP) has a long history of serving individuals with developmental disabilities. In fact we have been a 501C3 since the 90s. Over the years we have acquired four properties that serve 18 individuals. Our homes in Tacoma and Puyallup are staffed independently of GAPP. We keep in close contact with their service providers to ensure that the homes

are maintained to provide a safe environment for residents and

their staffs.

GAPP manages the day to day operations and care of the GAPP Adult Family Home residents, and it is where we have our main offices. Our volunteer board members are grateful for the dedicated staff members who provide excellent care so our residents can fully enjoy their lives. Our staff has a challenging profession and we are fortunate to have them be a part of our organization.

A strong emphasis is placed upon resident choice and healthy living. Residents are involved in Special Olympics sports including bowling, softball, basketball, soccer and swimming. Two residents work in our community. Residents visit the YMCA weekly. Attendance at art classes, at sporting and theatrical events including plays, musicals, and movies as well as monthly dances are among the activities enjoyed by residents.
